I just discovered the poem by Auden and Bernstein's Symphony based on the poem: so interesting and totally in tune with Bernstein immense creativity and sharp perception of the world.

An absolute joy to listen to this sublime interpretation of this magnificent sonata written by Beethoven.

Mr. Zimerman is one of the few musicians who avoids a too high speed of playing. He looks for music, not for entusiastic and often ignorant audiences. He is noble and yet approachable by anyone.

This sonata is Beethoven mocking affectation!

This sounds like the journey you start when you have lost the one who you loved the most, and you'd been betrayed again and again. The first stage: grief. The second: recovery. The third: when you flourish, but you're never the same person, with occasional trauma response but also strength. Brilliant, the transition from one movement to the next one totally matching the emotional states they provoque.

When i was -769 years old my pet asparagus would play this song to me on his salmon 😢 it really reminds me of the good old days.

Beautiful performance. He has not previously been on my radar but I will definitely be listening to Zimmerman in the future. A truly singing tone on the piano, like his, greatly impresses me - the piano being basically a percussion instrument.
